  • Los NBR Son copolímeros de butadieno y nitrilo acrílico o acrilonitrilo, y frecuentemente se les conoce simplemente como cauchos nitrílicos. Su abreviatura internacional es NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber).
    Junto con los fluorados, los nitrílicos son de los caucho sintéticos con mejor resistencia a los aceites e hidrocarburos alifáticos.
  • Very satisfactory resistance against oils and aliphatic hydrocarbons (hexane, heptane, methane, ethane, octane, butane, pentane).
  • Limited resistance against aromatic hydrocarbons (benzene, toluene, xylene) and even more so against chlorinated hydrocarbons (chloroform, trichloroethylene, perchlorethylene).
  • Good adhesion to steel.
  • They are resistant to acids (except oxidants), fatty acids, vegetable or animal fats.
  • They resist alkalis and salts.
  • Its low permeability to air and other hydrocarbon gases such as natural gas, propane and butane is noteworthy.
  • Moderate resistance to low temperatures and weathering.

  • They are not suitable in contact with gasoline, grease, oil and hydrocarbon solvents.

  • It is commonly used in the mining industry or industrial environments subject to high degrees of abrasion that require materials that guarantee a long useful life and maximum performance.
  • Excellent mechanical properties, moderate to tear.
  • Lower resilience compared to natural rubber.
  • Good resistance to aging and temperature. Its resistance can be increased with a suitable formulation.
  • Temperature range: between -50ºC and 110ºC.
  • Good chemical resistance to many inorganic chemicals, but poor to oxidizing acids.
  • Limited resistance to mineral acids, not being suitable for organic liquids in general.

They have excellent mechanical and abrasion properties.

  • They have good adhesion to metal.
  • Its resistance to oils, greases and hydrocarbon solvents is comparable to that of a low-medium content nitrile rubber.
  • Regarding its chemical resistance, it is resistant to inorganic chemical products except oxidizing acids and halogens.
  • It is not resistant to most organic compounds, except alcohols.
  • They are self-extinguishing, that is, although they burn under the action of the flame, they do not propagate combustion and go out as soon as the flame is removed.

  • Impermeability against gases.
  • Excellent resistance to weathering, oxidation, ozone and heat.

  • Low permeability to air and gases in general.
  • Excellent in contact with vegetable and animal fats and oils.
  • Temperature range: between -45°C and 130°C, and even higher, with suitable formulations.
  • Moderate resistance to abrasion and set compression.
  • Resistant to most inorganic chemicals, mineral acids and alkalis.
  • Limited resistance to oxidizing chemicals.
  • With reinforcing loads a high breaking load can be achieved.
  • Good electrical properties.

Sheet Manufacturing Tolerances

In the production process of rubber articles, many factors intervene that can affect the final dimensions of the product, such as the proportion of materials used, curing and post-curing times, vulcanizing temperature and pressure, or the insertion of other materials. Even the conditions of humidity and temperature during storage can alter the conditions of a flexible product such as rubber.
